Well, that was fun . We got up early to drive to the other side of the county to collect Carols Bees. 12,000 girls and 100 male bees. No wonder the males are called “Drones”! You wouldn’t have much choice with those odds.
The bees were carefully housed in a polystyrene box that had been their home for a while. The entrance was shut off and it was loaded into the car. Two dogs in the back very curious. All went well until about halfway back Carol said “What’s that bee doing in the car?”
WHAT!
It turned out to be one from outside the temporary hive that had got into the car whilst we were loading up.
We got home and the new stand was assembled and the new hive set up and bees happy to go into their new palatial hive
Anyone for honey?
I met a bee keeper at a party recently: ” I have spent over six hundred pounds and had two teaspoons full of honey . That’ about three hundred quid a pop!”
