One of the sad things is that people come and go from Rowden: it’s a part of life. When they go on to a new job in a great young workshop, it’s a GOOD thing. Giles came to us about 18 months ago. I had put an e-mail out to my Woody Nooz saying I had a place a that summer and would give bursary to suitable candidate. A reader saw it and thought of Giles and told his dad.
Giles came here and took to making like a duck to water. He made mistakes but went back and made it again. He was extremely determined and that makes a difference – a lesser person would want to hurry on and get on to the next thing, but Giles paid his dues, not just in money but in effort.
When his course here ended, we gave him a job and he has been working for me since then. Now he is moving on and rightly so. He is joining Young & Norgate – a really good up and coming workshop and he will do really well there. Ross and Dave are lucky to get him. Good luck and a happy 2015 to all!
