The job of furniture is to be useful to us. Yet it must also be beautiful, we surround ourselves with objects that go a way to describing who we are, how we want to be seen. Our homes and the furniture within our home can if we choose do that very eloquently. This piece for Finian I admit to stuggling with, yet the struggle seems to have been worth the effort. “Can you make me a storage table David I have lots of large plans and want to put them in a Rosewood table, nice simple masculine but elegant” Not much room there for Whimsey you might say, but still this is good conservative furnituremaking and I am pretty pleased to still be able to do this kind of stuff when asked. Not too much more of it mind you, for 2007 my promise to myself, is to just do something else, something rather different. But that is always the artists curse and promise.
