Of course, cabinet making is the mainstay of our courses here at Rowden, but completing a piece is not where the process ends. The next step is photography.

We are very lucky to have a photography studio set up here. This is where all the students are encouraged spend some time photographing their work. As they complete each piece, it is important to start to build a portfolio of high quality studio images. Great photography is a powerful tool in helping build your brand image, and reach your target audience. More than likely these photographs will get used on their website, postcards and on social media. They might use them in newsletters, press releases or for exhibition catalogues. Ultimately, they will start to appear in Google searches and design blogs, or even pop up on Pinterest.

In-House

We are fortunate that Rowden does have an in-house photographer who is very experienced at taking photographs of bespoke furniture. There is definitely an art to it. We spend time with the students impressing upon them the importance of high quality photography and many go on to develop these skills themselves. This ensures that the high quality imagery that they get while at Rowden continues throughout their careers.

Until next time,

Lakshmi
