Time for a good old BBQ

Time for a good old BBQ

While we can’t claim to be quite as obsessed about a good old BBQ as our friends in Australia, we’re not far off. Here at Rowden there is always at least one student looking for the perfect excuse to down tools, put on an apron and set fire to whatever’s in the fridge! Whilst this a great opportunity for a catch up amongst ourselves it is also, with a bit of planning, the most reliable way to attract seasoned makers and former students back for a visit.

For the students, they get the chance to talk informally with these guys and find out about life in the real world. And for the visitors, there is the chance to have a piece of their work critiqued by us! And also to grab a sneaky look at what the young guns of the future are up to.

Some students have found these barbecues to be such a reliable way of bringing people together that they have gone on to hold them at their own workshops. After all, what better way to talk about what you do than over a pile of ribs and a beer!

Until next time,

Lakshmi
