If you live by the seasons…
Coastal living is a mixed blessing a lot of the time. Especially here at Rowden in the windy, rainy, south-west of England. That said, you’ll rarely hear people complain because, crappy weather notwithstanding, they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
But there is one thing we look on with dread. The end of British Summer Time, when the clocks go forward and suddenly it seems like it’s night time at four in the afternoon! We are an outdoorsy bunch and this abomination puts the kibosh on having any kind of meaningful fun outside after business hours. Ugh!
What to do?
Many of our friends more or less hibernate until the Spring, others craftily sneak off to sunnier climes. For some, it’s an excuse to start up the wood burner at night and crack open a box set. For others, it’s an excuse to check the forecasts and the swells for good lunchtime surf. For all of us, it is a chance to slow down a little (except at the workshop!), take stock of the year so far and dream of what great things we’ll do next year, or at least start doing… just as soon as the sun comes back.
Until next time,
Lakshmi
