Heizaburo is not a young man, he is however a very determined man. A retired dentist from Japan, Heizaburo wanted to improve his woodworking skills. He had made furniture as an amateur in Japan but wanted to learn properly. To do this he first needed to close his business, then learn the English language, then move to Britain to spend a year with us. This complex and curvy stool was almost impossible to make but we did it. The construction is plywood stacked up then carved and veneered with sycamore. I think this is an extra ordinary piece of work and one Hi should be very proud of. He tells me that his next piece will have “no curves”
