Four new student chairs

We have had a spell of chairmaking in the top studio. First is a really nice chair from Christian O Rielly made in English Cherrywood and finished with a shellac polish. This chair shows has a nice curved back made in solid wood using a stack laminating technique. The second chair is by Steve Clewes made in English Oak with Rosewood details. The rosewood was used for the back spats and were made from thin springy laminations to give comfort and support to the lower back. The third chair is by Paul Perkins. Beautifully made in solid Swiss Pearwood this desk chair is complex and sophisticated in form and also very comfortable. Nick Barlow is the maker of the final chair in this group. This is made in Magnolia which is a timber we use for prototyping but this is nearer a finished chair than a prototype usually gets.
