Inspired by the erosion occurring on a riverbank – cutting and depositing. Sand and sea also came into it, the way the tide leaves sand hard and rippled, but most of all this table was to show a contrast between hard and straight edges, with concentrated, sensuous, curves.
The design for the top was created by Rowden tutor, Ed Wild. Ed cut plane strokes across the surface then left it alone — no sanding — the oil polish enhances the intentional handmade appearance. The makers’ mark, left with intent.
