This bespoke dining table has been made from English Oak, and finished with 15 layers of ‘Rowden’s finest oil’. It was commissioned as a family heirloom and it will be passed down the generations.
A hand-carved inscription is a family motto, beautifully carved using specialist chisels. Each tool plays an important role in the styling for different aspects of each letter.
The simple, overriding design lays the foundations for some very intricate features all paying homage to the oak tree. The huge surface top sits upon an inverted barrel design. This stand was created by Rowden Atelier graduate and designer/maker Michael Crohn, who put together this inverted barrel and routed out the surface to create the beautiful ‘bark’ details.
