New student work

Sandra Bicknell and Christopher Struett have now finished their furniture making courses here at Rowden workshops. Before leaving we helped them by getting photographs of their work for portfolios to show prospective clients. Sandra made this lovely cabinet, which she named ‘Bottoms Up’, with Light English Oak, Stained Oak, and Wenge

Before she joined this workshop Sandra was a museum curator. Now she has moved on, joining a nearby workshop where she rents bench space and is starting to build her own business. This is the ideal next step for those thinking to set themselves up in business, you’re safety trained so other people don’t mind you using the machines and you get the benefit of company and like minds as you build your own small business. Christopher Struett developed this lovely side table for a bespoke lamp designer/maker who had a particular design of lamp for which he required a special table

Chris Struett's tableChris is returning to San Francisco, in a month or so, where, before he joined this workshop, he had worked in horticulture and in the theatre. I believe that he will continue making furniture after his return, though his ambition is to only make quality furniture for people he loves and cares for.
