Ebony & Pearwood Lamp Table

Designed to be paired with two, handmade beaten metal lamps, the base of which had originally been water vessels. The idea of pouring water, the movement as it would leave the vessel, was the inspiration for the leg of these tables.

The legs of the table are made in its solid ebony and the surfaces in figured sycamore and pearwood. We then “planished” the surface, decorating in the same way that the beaten metal of the vessels had been treated. This created a dimpled surface that catches the light
